MQ-9 Gas Sensor (CO, LPG,CH4) Module

MQ-9 is a type of gas sensor that is used to detect the presence of gases in the air. It is commonly used to detect carbon monoxide (CO), a toxic gas that is produced by the incomplete burning of fossil fuels. MQ-9 gas sensors are often used in a variety of applications, including heating and ventilation systems, portable gas detectors, and automotive exhaust systems.

MQ-9 gas sensors consist of a sensing element that is made of a conductive material, such as tin dioxide (SnO2). The sensing element is coated with a thin layer of palladium (Pd), which is sensitive to the presence of carbon monoxide. When the sensor is exposed to CO, the palladium absorbs the gas, causing a change in the resistance of the sensing element. This change in resistance can be measured using an electronic circuit, which can then be used to detect the presence of CO in the air.

Applications:

  • Suitable for home or factory gas leakage monitoring devices
  • Monitoring devices suitable for carbon monoxide and other combustible gases
  • Carbon monoxide can be tested 10 to 1000ppm CO, combustible gas range 100 to 10000ppm

Check Datasheet

You must connect an MQ-9 gas sensor to a power supply and an electrical circuit that can measure the resistance of the sensing element in order to use it. The resistance of the sensing element will vary when the sensor is exposed to CO, and the electronic circuit will notice this change and deliver a signal informing the user that the gas is there. To reduce the risk of CO exposure, the sensor can then be utilized to sound an alarm or turn on a control system.
